Aura Obscura Therapy
Therapy for Individuals and Relationships
Holly Watson, Marriage & Family Therapist || Speech Pathologist
Driven by curiosity and built on purpose, this is where bold thinking meets thoughtful execution. Let’s create something meaningful together.
Do you feel like you've ended up somewhere you never imagined?
You did everything right — the relationship, the schooling, the career, the life that was supposed to make you happy. Yet here you are, awake at 3am wondering how and why you feel disconnected and unsatisfied.
Your relationship has drifted so far that you feel like strangers. Maybe you've lost someone or something and nothing has felt right since.
Maybe you've checked every box and still feel a profound emptiness you can't explain to anyone. Maybe you look around at your life and think: this isn't what I imagined. This isn't who I am. Somewhere in the back of your mind are questions you're almost afraid to ask: What if this is all there is? What if it never gets better?
You don't have to figure that out alone. This is precisely the work we will do together.
We might be a good fit if…
You feel disconnected from yourself or the people you love most.
Your relationship has drifted and grown tense, or feels irreparably damaged. Maybe you can’t decide if you should stay or go.
You're navigating infidelity — on either side of it.
You're struggling through infertility, pregnancy, or the postpartum period and nobody seems to understand what you're actually going through.
You did everything you were supposed to do and still feel empty, resentful, or lost.
Your career made sense on paper but feels meaningless in practice.
You're in the middle of a high conflict divorce, navigating family court, or beginning to understand that what you experienced was abuse.
You're carrying something heavy — trauma, grief, or a loss that left you unsure of who you are on the other side.
You're exhausted by your own inner critic. You say yes when you mean no. You second guess everything. You carry shame about your past, your choices, or the very person you are..
You're anxious, overwhelmed, hopeless, or afraid.
You're not sure therapy can help. But something brought you here, regardless.

MEET THE THERAPIST
I’m Holly– therapist, mother, daughter, friend, wife, cancer survivor, lover of beauty and meaning. I’ve navigated my share of suffering and I know what it’s like to feel afraid, hopeless, and ashamed.
I also know what it takes to find your way to an authentic and emotionally fulfilled life.
Sharing the parts of yourself you're most ashamed of with a complete stranger is terrifying. I understand this not just as a therapist, but as a person who has been in therapy – who said aloud the thing I was most afraid to say. The thing I believed made me broken, unloveable, and unworthy. In that moment, my beloved therapist gave me a gift that I strive to give to every client I sit across from: compassion and understanding.
When you enter my therapy room, you can trust that no part of yourself is too much for me. All parts of you are welcome here — the messy parts, the shameful parts, the parts you've never said out loud. Especially those parts.

The Process
1
INTRO CALL
Call, text, or email Holly to schedule a free 15 minute phone consult. This time will be used to determine if we are a good fit, schedule our intake, and answer any initial questions you may have.
2
INITIAL INTAKE
In our initial intake session, we review intake paperwork and the reasons you are seeking therapy. The first session tends to explore your emotional and relational history including major life events, foundational relationships, and your goals for therapy.
3
THE WORK
This is where we dig in. Together we'll explore what shaped you — your family, your relationships, your patterns, your beliefs. You will develop a deep understanding of why you do what you do and feel what you feel. This is where the magic happens.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Clients tell me I am equal parts genuine, warm, humorous, and easy to talk to. It is not uncommon for clients to shock themselves by sharing things in the first session that they’ve never been able to say to others. I am skilled at pattern recognition, and asking questions that guide clients to a place of deep understanding of self and others, which tends to lead to increased compassion for self and others, as well as a greater sense of well-being in life. Clients regularly tell me they leave sessions feeling lighter, calmer, and with an improved sense of clarity and hope. Most often though, clients express that I am able to understand them in a way that no one ever has before.
I consider my greatest strength as a therapist to be my ability to connect to people as they are on the inside, at finding and understanding the most authentic version of themselves. My therapeutic style is humanistic and relational.
I will see (and help you see) the goodness of who you are at your core. I will help you identify your driving forces and recognize the inherent worth you possess, simply because you exist.

I work from an eclectic blend of therapeutic modalities and lived experience, but I pull most heavily from attachment theory, psychodynamic theory, family systems theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and internal family systems. I also bring to my practice more than ten years of experience as a medical Speech-language pathologist within the acute hospital setting. My educational background spans communication sciences, psychology, neuroscience, human development, and relational systems, allowing me to approach healing with both a Western medical lens and a deep understanding of the human experience.
As a holistic, trauma-informed, non-pathologizing therapist, I hold your systemic context with care and humility throughout our work together. I aim to create a therapeutic space that is collaborative and compassionate, where your whole story and whole self are met without judgment. Together, we explore patterns, process difficult experiences, deepen self-understanding, and find a path forward that feels authentic to you.
-
I pride myself on my skill and ability working with a vast array of presenting issues. I have considerable experience with anxiety/depression, panic, parenting struggles, life transitions, trauma/PTSD, loss and grief, divorce (including high conflict dynamics), narcissistic abuse, post separation abuse, childhood abuse/neglect, infidelity, infertility, identity issues, complex family dynamics, suicidal thoughts, addiction, workplace/career difficulties, and more.
-
The therapeutic process varies by case. Typically I tell people to expect a minimum of six months, but depending on the severity of the presenting problems, regular therapy can last for couple of years. The goal is never indefinite therapy, though. A skilled therapist will guide you to a point where therapeutic support fades as coping skills and relationships improve.

I do not accept insurance at this time. This allows me to prioritize your privacy and eliminates the need to assign a mental health diagnosis for reimbursement purposes.
I do offer superbills for session fees which are reimbursed by some insurance companies.
To help make therapy more accessible for all, I offer sliding-scale/reparation fees for BIPOC individuals and students as availability allows. I also accept HSA/FSA payments.
If cost is a concern, please reach out. I'm happy to have a conversation to explore options that may help make therapy more affordable for you.

I require a minimum 24 hour notice for all cancellations. This allows me to offer appointment times for wait-list and crisis sessions. Cancellations within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time and no-shows are subject to the full session fee.
However, I do recognize that life can be unpredictable. I offer a couple of options for flexibility around this policy: If you are able to reschedule within the same calendar week, no late fee is imposed. Additionally, in an effort to balance the power differential between client and therapist, I recognize that there are times where I might need to cancel or reschedule. If I ever must cancel or reschedule our appointment with less than 24 hours notice, I will credit the next session to you.

Absolutely. I offer tele-health sessions for clients in Kansas via a HIPPA-compliant platform. This can be accessed on a standing basis or as a last minute pivot to accommodate illnesses, car problems, weather issues, or other unexpected inconveniences.

I am absolutely a queer affirming therapist and am committed to making affirming and culturally competent therapy available to all sexual and gender minorities. Additionally, am kink-affirming, sex positive, and affirming/supportive of non-traditional relationship structures.
